Kuliah Umum: Nobel Minds 2013

The Year of 2013 Nobel Laureates in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Medicine and Economics speak in the same building in Stockholm where they have received their awards. The Laureates talk about the discoveries for which they've been honored, how they can be applied in a practical way, and how they reached this summit of academic achievement.

Kuliah Umum: Belajar Ketika Muda

Jacob Barnett (born Indianapolis, May 26, 1998) is a mathematician and astrophysicist who, while still a teenager, has become an orator of Physics classes at Indiana University.

Barnett was diagnosed with moderate to severe autism when he was 2 years old and was educated and taught privately by his parents.

His mother wrote a book about this educational journey. He was just 12 years old when he was enrolled into college at the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, skipping 7 grades, having learned the majority of his school's math syllabus within two weeks.

At the age of 15 he became a PSI-student at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and is expected to receive a PhD in late 2014.

Kuliah Umum: Isaac Newton The Last Magician

Isaac Newton

Sir Isaac Newton PRS MP (/ˈnjuːtən/; 25 December 1642 – 20 March 1727) was an English physicist andmathematician who is widely regarded as one of the most influential scientists of all time and as a key figure in the scientific revolution.

His book Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica ("Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy"), first published in 1687, laid the foundations for most of classical mechanics.

Newton also made seminal contributions to optics and shares credit with Gottfried Leibniz for the invention of the infinitesimal calculus.

Newton's Principia formulated the laws of motion and universal gravitation that dominated scientists' view of the physical universe for the next three centuries. It also demonstrated that the motion of objects on the Earth and that of celestial bodies could be described by the same principles.

By deriving Kepler's laws of planetary motionfrom his mathematical description of gravity, Newton removed the last doubts about the validity of the heliocentricmodel of the cosmos. Newton built the first practical reflecting telescope and developed a theory of colour based on the observation that a prism decomposes white light into the many colours of the visible spectrum.

He also formulated an empirical law of cooling and studied the speed of sound. In addition to his work on the calculus, as a mathematician Newton contributed to the study of power series, generalised the binomial theorem to non-integer exponents, and developed Newton's method for approximating the roots of a function.

Newton was a fellow of Trinity College and the second Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. He was a devout but unorthodox Christian and, unusual for a member of the Cambridge faculty, he refused to take holy orders in the Church of England, perhaps because he privately rejected the doctrine of the Trinity.

In addition to his work on the mathematical sciences, Newton also dedicated much of his time to the study of alchemy and biblical chronology, but most of his work in those areas remained unpublished until long after his death. In his later life, Newton became president of the Royal Society. He also served the British government as Warden and Master of the Royal Mint.

Belajar Ke Negeri Singa

Megastructures: Master Plan for Marina Bay Singapore

“If I were in authority in Singapore indefinitely without having to ask those who are governed whether they like what is being done, then I would not have the slightest doubt that I could govern much more effectively in their interests.”
*Lee Kuan Yew, Father of Singapore, 1962*

Bahkan, Prof. Kishrore Mahbubani [Former Singaporean diplomat. He is currently Professor in the Practice of Public Policy and Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.] pernah menuliskan dalam salah satu artikelnya bahwa:

First World Economy, World Class Home
